Hello to all on the Train,

Jim here from bike Detroit.  This winter we drove 456 miles and visited some 120 Parks out of a list of 600+ that the city of Detroit is decommissioning.  During these travels we discovered numerous trails and interconnected routs that could have a positive effect if cleared and slightly developed.

We have gained permission from the head Landscape Architect and are seeking 8-10+ Volunteers for trail clearing/development.  The three areas we would focus on would be Palmer Woods Park, Pingree Nature Preserve and the Rouge Corridor from 7 mile on Thur Eliza Howell Park.  Two-Three days at Palmer, Two-Three days along the Rouge Corridor and then one day at the Pingree nature preserve would about do it.

We have all the equipment we just need help with the moving of stuff off to the sides.  People with there own chainsaws would be more than welcome.  We are thinking the last weekend in March and two more in April Should about do it. We would develop the training routes and maps and then we all can share them with whomever how ever.

Please email me at jimmeyers3.14@gmail or call me via my cell at 248-722-9339

See you on the trial!

p.s. when you folks starting your ride again?

Jim, good to see you post up!  I would definitely be interested in the Rouge Corridor near 7 mile work day... also, where is Pingree Nature Preserve?  BTT rides start back up on the first Saturday in April, 4/3/10.

Something to consider, the Metro South chapter of mmba has been working on trails in the Rouge corridor south of I-96... not exactly sure where.  Would be pretty sweet if it could be linked from the north, through the Rouge Detroit Park, and onto the Hines trails...

Jim,

This is great news. I'd like to talk to you more about this when convenient. This would
definitely connect nicely with the MMBA trail at Rouge Park.

Right now, the trail is a partial loop between Tireman and Joy, to be completed this year
if all goes well. Jason and I will be posting more about this. But our plan is to have
connected loops in the blocks north of Joy Rd too.

Todd Scott, the Detroit Trails Coordinators for Michigan Trails and Greenways Assoc.
(Michigan Trails and Greenways Association (MTGA)
http://www.michigantrails.org
will also be a helpful resource for connecting the
dots.

Cheers,
Chris
